ESPN Names Chauncey Billups to New, Multi-Year Deal

This week, ESPN announced it has signed NBA Countdown analyst Chauncey Billups and Killer 3s Player Captain to a new, multi-year deal. Billups, the former NBA Finals MVP, will continue as a core member of ESPN’s and ABC’s NBA Countdown pregame and halftime team attached to all regular NBA telecasts, including for the NBA Finals, the Conference Finals, the NBA Playoffs and throughout the regular-season.

“The insight, dedication, and leadership that made Chauncey an NBA Finals MVP also make him a tremendous NBA analyst. His team-first approach to the show makes him a pleasure to work with and a joy to watch.”

Billups joined ESPN at the start of the 2014-15 NBA season, providing analysis for SportsCenter and other news and information programming. During the 2015-16 NBA season, Billups began appearing on Wednesday editions of NBA Countdown. He was named a full-time NBA Countdown analyst at the start of the 2016-17 season, alongside host Michelle Beadle and analyst Jalen Rose.

Billups was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1997 and played 17 NBA seasons, most notably with the Detroit Pistons from 2002-2008. Billups led the Pistons to the 2004 NBA Championship and was named NBA Finals MVP. Additionally, he was a five-time NBA All-Star, the NBA Teammate of the Year in 2013 and recipient of the NBA Sportsmanship Award in 2008. Billups will next play in the BIG3 league starting in June.
